Rio Tinto responds to fake and misleading Instagram post

An Instagram post by Jelena Stupljanin claiming Rio Tinto is responsible for poisoning two deer and one fawn in the Jadar Valley is misleading and repeating false allegations made two years ago.

The same photograph was the subject of similar fake news in 2021. An inspection by the veterinary supervisor at that time determined the cause of death of the deer to be traffic-related.

Rio Tinto strongly rejects the baseless claims made in the post and accusations linking Rio Tinto to the deaths of the animals. The post is part of an ongoing campaign attacking the company's reputation using malicious, baseless allegations.
