The Jadar Project

In 2004, Rio Tinto geologists discovered Jadarite, a new mineral containing lithium and boron. Jadarite, named after the Jadar River, is located near the city of Loznica in Western Serbia. The Jadar deposit is a world-class resource that could potentially provide the foundation of a new electric vehicle supply chain in Serbia.

Caring for the most vulnerable

We established a partnership with the humanitarian organisation Caritas from Šabac, to support the most vulnerable individuals in Loznica. This involved donations of food and hygeine products and ensuring adequate protection against coronavirus

We also participated in an initiative of the Association of Citizens, Preobraženje, to provide solar panels to the centre for rehabilitation and resocialisation to improve energy efficiency.

We also participated in the renovation and equipping of a ward in Loznica’s hospital, which cares for dialysis patients and those who have undergone organ transplants. With the Association of Voluntary Blood Donors and "Dr. Milenko Marin" from Loznica, we plan to organise a series of activities to collect blood and promote the importance of blood donations.
