Marijanti Babic speaking at international expert conference LOOK UP 3: Green Transition & 5th Industrial

For the third consecutive year, more than 500 participants and leading local and international experts, the business community as well as representatives of different government institutions gathered at the LOOK UP 3 Green Transition & 5th Industrial Revolution conference on November 28 in Belgrade. Participants discussed new trends, challenges, and potential solutions in the fields of energy, sustainable development and environmental protection.

Marijanti Babic, Country Head, Rio Tinto Serbia participated at the panel Building value chains: From raw materials to market impact. At the panel, Marijanti was joined by Dr Marcus Wirtz, VDMA Mining & Minerals Chairman, John Steen, Associate Professor, University of British Columbia, Nemanja Mikac, CEO, ElevenES and Dr Sebastian Lüning, Executive Director, K-UTEC, Germany.

This is of the utmost importance for the country, having in mind that Serbia is in a unique position to become one of the key hubs of green energy transition worldwide with one of the most promising and best explored lithium deposits which can bring extensive benefits with its development of a full circle value chain for the production of electric vehicles in Serbia, betterment of the country’s geopolitical status, professional development of the most desired experts in the global labor market within domestic education system and environmental protection in accordance with the highest domestic and EU standards”, Marijanti concluded.
