Rio Sava’s response to protest in front of Information Center in Loznica

Rio Sava respects the right of Serbia’s citizens to protest peacefully in accordance with the law, however, the protest today outside the Loznica Information Centre continues a trend of activist groups spreading inaccurate, groundless claims about our company.

Sharing false and fabricated claims about Rio Sava without evidence damages the opportunity to discuss the environmental, and technological merits of the Jadar Project based on facts, and realise the economic benefits of the Jadar Project.

Rio Tinto has stated publicly we are continuing to engage with all stakeholders and support the calls for a public conversation about the future of the Jadar Project. We will be issuing a number of documents over upcoming weeks related to our social and environmental activities, including the “as is” draft EIAs and land acquisition programme.

The Jadar Project would be developed sustainably, supported by community-led monitoring programs to ensure transparency around the environmental impacts.
